Make a beautiful sunset quilt using drunkard's path blocks. This is a PDF pattern for a throw sized quilt that finishes at about 50 x 74 inches.

This pattern uses curved piecing in Drunkard's path blocks and includes templates for the blocks and a link to a YouTube video tutorial on sewing curves.

This is an intermediate level sewing pattern that assumes some experience with quilt making.

Five Star Pattern Review: "Love the ease and clarity of the pattern. Anita has included a video link to help w/cutting and piecing curves. It was extremely helpful since I've not cut or sewn half circles or curves before. She's also been available by email for my questions and always responds expeditiously. Great tips for scaling the pattern to my size template also." - bluestarof2

You are purchasing a pattern (not a finished quilt.) You will receive a PDF file after you check out. You will need Adobe Acrobat Reader software (free from Adobe) to open and read the file.

Fabric Requirements:

- 160 pairs of 5” charm squares

– 80 pieces (40 pairs) for sun pieces and 80 pieces (40 pairs) for sky pieces *(see note)

- Eight 4 ½” by WOF strips

– some or all of these can also be made by sewing two 2 ½” x WOF strips together lengthwise

- 1 yard of fabric for border

- Half a yard of fabric for binding

- 4 yards of fabric for backing (there will be extra left over)

- Batting piece 55” x 80”

Other Supplies:

- Rotary cutter, mat and ruler

- Sewing machine, thread

-Sizzix Big Shot die cutting system and Quilting dies. (Optional)

- If using Sizzix dies you need #657168 Drunkard’s Path Background and #657169 Drunkard’s Path Quarter Circle

- Template plastic if you prefer to use it to make sturdier templates if using pattern template option.

*Note: Sample quilt was made using two charm packs of Simply Colorful by V & Co. for the suns (quarter circles) and a mix of fabrics from my stash for the sky pieces (background). Five inch strips were cut from fat quarters or fat eighths and put through the die cutter to get four pieces out of each strip.
